Announcing exploratory committee for Illinois State Treasurer

Hall Of Fame Induction

I recently had the great honor of being inducted into the Illinois State University College of Business Hall Of Fame.  Here is a pictures of me receiving the award from College of Business Dean, Chuck McGuire.

Speaking at Illinois State University

I had the chance to speak to the students who are involved in the Department of Business at Illinois State University.  I had a great time talking to the students and there was also an awesome turn out.

Lincoln Series Women

The women of the Lincoln Fellows from the Lincoln Series were at the Capitol the other day.  I was fortunate enough to get a photo with my friends.

Jogging and Recycling

Each day I get in a morning jog. On the treadmill inside watching a movie when the weather is bad and outside on nice days. I live out in the country and when outside, I pick up the cans and bottles jerks throw in the ditch. I then take them to recycle. Sundays are usually the worst for beer cans and Busch Lite seems to win out.

This is really a big state and getting around it takes time and friends. Those that pitch in and lend a hand driving are so invaluable. We call them the Road Warriors!

Rutherford Announces Possible Treasurer Bid on

Reported by: WMBD/WYZZ TV News Staff

WMBD/WYZZ TV – Pontiac - Illinois State Senator Dan Rutherford is taking a page out of president Obama's book by campaigning online. Rutherford announced an exploratory bid for state treasurer earlier this week, and now the Pontiac republican could be leading the way for campaigning online in Illinois.  Rutherford announced simultaneously on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook that he was raising money and seeking support. Rutherford says he handles virtually every detail of his political website, which includes a link to making contributions online as well as soup and casserole recipes.

Rutherford Ignores Radio, TV, Newspapers in Exploratory Committee Announcement

Reported by: Illinois Radio Network

State Sen. Dan Rutherford (R-Chenoa) is announcing his next step in preparing for a run for the state treasurer's office: He is forming an exploratory committee to raise funds and drum up preliminary support. The office is currently occupied by popular Democrat Alexi Giannoulias, who's thinking about running for U.S. Senate.

Rutherford made this announcement on YouTube, then on FaceBook, then on Twitter. He says he wanted to reach out quickly to his followers, rather than waiting to making the announcement to the media. He also claims that he handles virtually every detail of his political site, and other site accounts.

In 2006, Rutherford ran unsuccessfully for secretary of state.

Familiar Faces

It was really nice to see my great friend from college, Andrew Jackson.  I met up with Andrew for a picture before speaking at Illinois State University.  Andrew lives in Texas, and and it was awesome to see him after 20 years!

Good friends in Chicago!!
