Dry Tortugas
Well, this wasn’t the ‘Big Dive’
trip…time just would not allow it, with the holidays and getting it planned
out. BUT, I did get away for a few days, by adding on long personal weekend
to a business trip with ServiceMaster. I went to the Dry Tortugas via Key
West…
I chose to not go
International (time I had available, hastle…..all that stuff), wanted to
dive, but did not really have the time in December…..I learned about Dry
Tortugas from one of my Dive magazines, it’s not an easy place to get to and
is choked full of maritime and military history, a sanctuary for wildlife,
on America’s biggest coral reef….MY KIND OF PLACE!

These boats are those
actually used by Cuban Refugees that crossed to get to American soil. Once
they touch foot on US land they are given the opportunity to stay.

News from the
road…
We were honked at on
our way down to Florida another Illinois car gave us the Victory sign. They
had a Dan Rutherford sticker. We still have it on the Truck. It will stay
there too.
Have a wonderful
Christmas and New Year.
Love,
Lyle & Virgie

Black Eyed Peas…
When I was at the
Washington Chamber of Commerce earlier this month, Pat gave me a can of
Black Eyed Peas. I got a good laugh, because the only way anyone knew of the
inside joke was if they had read the Diary…..it was really funny!

Holiday Cards
I do appreciate the
holiday cards I receive. I read them, think about the message and the sender
and share some with my family and staff.
Because I like getting
full appreciation from life and all it has to bring, I want you to know that
after I read the card I do not just put it in the recycle bin…..I take them
to one of our local nursing homes and they are used by the residents to make
decorations….they enjoy getting them and I know the sender would feel good
about multiple people getting appreciation from the card. Merry Christmas!

The real Road
Warrior!
The road
miles have slowed down a bit for the Pontiac Bonneville. After the
election we were not putting on the miles like we were before. Having been
to Springfield for the Veto Session and a trip around the District, we start
the month of December with 243,840 miles. The recent ice storm
reminds me to get the winterization done, but she does get her 3,000 mile
oil change and she just loves to drink ethanol!

Thy word is a
lamp onto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105
May the light of
the season
shine bright in
your heart
now and in the
New Year.

Inscription from 2006 Holiday card

Sometimes I have to
laugh at myself!
So I am reading the
newspaper and quickly glance at the headline which read:
"Blacked Eyed Peas
top AMAs"
I think this is
interesting, ‘so the American Medical Association is endorsing eating black
eyed peas for health benefits’
….well, not exactly,
When I read the
article I learned: The Black Eyed Peas were triple winners at the 2006
American Music Awards. The hip-hop quartet was named favorite group twice,
in the rap/hip hop and soul/rhythm & blues categories. They also won
favorite rap/hip-hop album for “Monkey Business.”
Ok, so I
am not on top of my rap/hip-hop and I am not sure I even like black eyed
peas!
