February 2006

February has been a very active month;
traveling to DeKalb, Winnebago, Stephenson, Ogle, Lee, McLean, Livingston,
Sangamon, Cook, DuPage, Logan, Effingham, Madison Fayette, Christian, Cass,
Jersey, Whiteside, Macon, Saline and Warren counties, as well as GOP events
in Lisle, Palos, Worth, Rich, Aurora and Orland Townships. It’s been Lincoln
Day, Reagan Day and gatherings all over. The reception has been outstanding.
We are going to win the SOS race!
"The federal
indictment of Cecil Turner is a wake up call and the tip of the
iceberg regarding the seriousness of the problems in the Secretary
of State’s Office."

Just got back from a
short 3 day trip of ONLY 390 miles to Northern Illinois; Sycamore, DeKalb,
Rockford, Freeport and Dixon. The Pontiac Bonneville turned 200,515 miles.
She runs good, gets regular 3000 mile service and just loves ethanol!!

February 6 is Ronald Reagan's Birthday. It's a time to reflect on the
experiences I had with him. God Bless Ronald Reagan.

The reports for campaign funds raised for the second half of 2005 are now
public and we raised approximately the same amount as Jesse White. Minus a
$30,000 loan made to his campaign fund from his Chicago Democrat Ward
Organization, interest earned on the campaign account and adding in-kind
donations, we were only a few thousand dollars apart in contributions
received.
As of December 31, 2005, we had $525,000 in the bank beginning the reporting
period with $340,370 on hand and raising $427,766.
What I am really happy with is that we had 1,729 first time contributors to
our effort during the last six months of 2005. This brings our total number
of contributors to 12,509. It is great to have such support from a broad,
grass roots, team.

The Legislature convened, but keeping on the road in between Sessions. I
spoke at Sen. Carol Pankau’s fundraiser (she is running for Comptroller),
attended an Alzheimer’s fundraiser in Peoria and the Martin Luther King
luncheon, Cook County GOP Convention, & a great dinner with the leadership
of the Korean/American community in Chicago. Was with the Sangamon County
YR’s for the Debate Watching Party and had a fantastic fundraiser in Quincy.
