Obama gets bad taste of campaign media coverage

Swearing-In

The Swearing-In of the new General Assembly, the Governor and other Constitutional Officers took place early this month. Democrats had a big time in Springfield…they deserved it, they won.

Jesse White came to the Senate floor while we were in Session. This is the first time we have physically seen each other since the election, though we did speak on the phone election night. I personally greeted him and shook hands with congratulations. He seemed a bit stiff, but did thank me and moved on.

I am keeping the same Senate office in the Capitol as when I came over from the House: First floor, north-west wing….actually I took it over from Barack Obama when he moved to a different office in the Capitol, before he went to the US Senate.

PEORIA, Ill. -- A former high-ranking Illinois Secretary of State official was sentenced Thursday to 30 months in prison for helping three janitors pocket nearly $200,000 in state pay for work they didn't do.

Libby and Brian's little one joins the Team on December 29. Congratulations! Mother is doing well and Dad is starting to get some sleep.

Kind of a Blog

 

I truly do appreciate all of the support and encouragement. Thank you, very much, for the kind words. I feel good about our effort and proud of what we accomplished in the SoS race, especially with such a formidable incumbent.

 

I am in the middle of a four year Senate post, so have two more years in the term. 

 

Some have asked if I intend to run statewide again in 2010. It really is too early to say yes, but I can assure that I am not saying no.

 

Presently, I intend to continue the service to my Central Illinois constituency. I am honored to serve them and will continue to do so in an aggressive manner.

 

Also, I want to be helpful to bring new people in to the political process, encourage them to run for office at all levels and, where I can, give them advice and help. I am doing a fair bit of speaking around the state.

 

I am optimistic about what tomorrow will bring.

Pontiac Bonneville

 

It’s a new year and the Pontiac Bonneville is running great. We start 2007 with 246,620 miles on her. No problems, great mileage, regular 3,000 mile service and ethanol at every occasion!
