Ann Romney Visits Illinois
It was great to host Ann Romney in Illinois
recently. Governor Romney's wife came in September 6th, the first
day to circulate Presidential petitions.
She started off the day by having lunch at Harry
Caray's in Rosemont with Dutchie Caray, followed by some television
and radio interviews. Ann enjoyed the minestrone soup, Dutchie had
the chopped salad, and I went for my favorite Harry's special
calamari. Then
she headed west to Plano for a reception at the home of the Former
Speaker of the United States House, Dennis Hastert and his wife
Jean. Before departing Illinois Mrs. Romney visited a gathering of
grassroots Romney supporters before heading to Michigan to join
Governor Romney.
I enjoyed the opportunity to get to know Ann Romney.
She is a wonderful person and will make a superb First Lady.
Please join me in circulating petitions for Mitt
Romney for President of the United States.

AURORA – Ah, the
signs of the seasons – the first robin of spring, the first colored leaves
of fall, and the first campaign visit of the election cycle.
On a rainy day, Kane
County saw the season turn from summer to 2008 presidential campaign with a
visit Thursday by Ann Romney, wife of Republican candidate Mitt Romney.
"Thompson's for Giuliani, Hastert's for Romney"
Chicago Sun-Times- 9/7/2007
It's a potential battle of
Illinois' GOP titans.
Former Gov. Jim Thompson
threw his support to Republican presidential hopeful Rudolph Giuliani on
Thursday, calling the former New York mayor "a smart, tough candidate" who
"will appeal to a broad cross-section of people across the country."

SUGAR GROVE
-- In 1980, Dan Rutherford was the executive director for Ronald Reagan's
Illinois campaign. With the title came privileges. At 24 years old,
Rutherford found himself waiting at O'Hare International Airport to pick up
"first lady in the making" Nancy Reagan for a Midwest visit. Fast forward to
2007, and Rutherford, now a Republican state senator from Pontiac, was
having déja vu.

I Love
Parades
I
really like parades. I enjoy walking in them, shaking hands and seeing
people. This month I tried something different and asked friends to e mail
me photos from parades I was in. I do appreciate receiving them. A special
thanks to those that took the time. Enjoy!
Threshermen's Parade in
Pontiac
This year was the 59th Annual Threshermen's
Reunion Parade. The streets of Pontiac were lined with thousands of people
watching the floats, bands, politicians, old steam engines and other
participants.
A special thanks to Mary Ann Sartoris and Karen Gilmoure
for providing these pictures.
